Only 5 minutes from the E63 highway exit, halfway between Helsinki and Oulu. Whether you are passing through or staying for a week, the chalet is yours entirely — at your own pace, on your own terms.

On the River

The chalet sits directly on the Salakkajoki river. In summer, swim safely from the private sandy beach, or take out the rowing boat and kayak — both included. Fishing equipment comes with the boat. In winter, the river freezes solid: a rare chance to skate on natural ice and play hockey with the equipment provided.

Sauna & Hot Tub

The wood-fired sauna is in a private, separate wing — not shared with anyone. After the sauna, a quick dip in the cold river before returning to the warmth is a deeply Finnish ritual. Simple, unforgettable, and something you should try at least once. The hot tub is available separately.

Northern Lights

Äänekoski sits at 62°N — prime aurora territory from October to March. Step outside on a clear night and look north. No light pollution, no crowds, just the forest and the sky.

Wildlife & Nature

The chalet is surrounded by forest. Deer, roe deer, squirrels, hedgehogs, hawks and eagles are regular visitors. In winter, tracks in the snow tell you who passed by in the night. Lynx have been spotted in the area.

Kitchen Garden & Honey

In summer and autumn, guests are welcome to pick berries and fruit from the garden — strawberries, raspberries and currants. You can also visit the beehives and taste our own honey. Many of the ingredients used in breakfast and dinner come from the garden and greenhouse.

Breakfast & Private Chef

A home-cooked breakfast can be delivered to your chalet every morning (Bed & Breakfast option). Our private chef Frédérik — trained in five-star kitchens in France and London — is also available for à la carte dinner, fondue, and special occasions. 24h notice required.
